Can you please tell us a little bit about your business?
Located in Corio Bay, GeelongPort is the second largest port in Victoria handling more than 12 million tonnes of product annually across a broad range of industry segments, including crude oil, wood-chip, fertiliser and break bulk cargo. GeelongPort is a major driver of Victoria’s economy, managing in excess of $7 billion of trade and generating more than 1,800 jobs across the state.
What made you decide to support the Surf Coast Trek as a sponsor?
We recognise supporting events like the Surf Coast Trek is a great way for us to connect to the wider community and help raise vital funds to support foundations like Give Where You Live and Kids Plus.
Why is supporting the community important for your business?
The Port touches the lives of thousands of people throughout the Geelong region and plays a pivotal role within the wider community. Fostering this connection is fundamental to growing the port’s trade and sharing these benefits with our community where we work, live and play.
What message would you like to give trekkers undertaking the Surf Coast Trek?
Don’t give up and we look forward to seeing at the Point Addis rest stop for a bite to eat and a cool drink!
What are you most looking forward to about being involved with the Surf Coast Trek 2020?
Meeting and encouraging the trekkers to keep going! You’re over half way.
What do staff get out of the team experience and how do you get them involved?
Our employees have a strong connection to community and were eager get involved. Working together gives everyone a feeling of pride and purpose in the community.
