One of our favourite things about the Surf Coast Trek is the community that surrounds it, with many trekkers that take part strengthening old friendships and making new ones along the way.
We’re excited to be announcing our 2020 Surf Coast Trek Champions who live and breath everything the Trek stands for. So without further ado, get to know Trek Champion, Kim Cooper from This Hot Mess.
How did you first hear about the Trek and what made you decide to take part?
I first noticed the Trek via social media over the last two years and knew that I wanted to take on the challenge one day—not just because it would be an amazing experience and personal achievement, but mainly because I am a huge fan of Give Where You Live and the work that Kids Plus do. So anything that supports them is a big yes from me!
What do you love about it?
I love that it couples helping support those who are vulnerable in our local community, with experiencing some of our amazing local landscape. It’s just a wonderful event that celebrates so much goodness in our community.
Given this will be your first Surf Coast Trek, what’s the best piece of advice you’ve heard about completing the challenge?
Bandaids, bandaids, bandaids! Haha!
What’s the first thing you’ll do after completing the Surf Coast Trek 2020?
Most likely enjoy a nice big sit down and then straight home for a loooong hot shower.
Can you please tell us a little bit about what you do:
I’m a local singer here in the Geelong region, the primary carer for my dad who is disabled and run Instagram blog ‘This Hot Mess’.
