By supporting the Surf Coast Trek you will be making a real difference to the lives of those in need in the Geelong and Surf Coast region of Victoria.
Kids Plus Foundation is a registered charity based in Geelong that provides specialist multidisciplinary therapy and support for babies, children and young people with cerebral palsy and other neural developmental disabilities. The Kids Plus Foundation delivers programs that assist children and their families throughout the Geelong, Barwon and Surf Coast regions.
The Give Where You Live Foundation Since 1954, the Give Where You Live Foundation has been bringing individual donors, corporate supporters and community partners together to help the region’s most vulnerable people. This financial year, Give Where You Live has contributed in excess of $2 million to address disadvantage across our the G21 region (including the Surf Coast Shire). Give Where You Live is more than just a fundraiser, more than just a granter of funds – it is the foundation of support for the G21 region with the primary role to be a catalyst for positive change through addressing the causes and effects of disadvantage in our region.
The more funds you can raise the bigger difference you can make to the lives of those most in need in our community.

Here are a few tips to help you get started:
Set your fundraising targets high– remember the individual amount of $250 and $1000 for a team is only the minimum amount. People will be keen to donate to help you get to the start line and to reach your ultimate target. You can always increase your goal as you get close to it and remember there are some great prizes for those that raise the most funds.
Team work– If you are participating as part of a team set personal and team goals; have regular team meetings to help plan your campaign- including goal setting and training as well as brainstorming your fundraising ideas.
Your Fundraising page– Make it interesting by adding a photo and maybe a bio. Perhaps include your motivation for undertaking the challenge. A personal or team story will resonate with potential donors. Kick start your own campaign by making a donation. This shows your commitment to the event and cause.
Spread the word about your participation and the event itself. Download our fundraising email (see below) to send out to your email contacts. You can edit it and use on Facebook and other social media. There is also a facebook banner to download and use if you wish. Remember to keep sending and posting reminders about your challenge and remember to thank people as soon as possible after they donate. Let them know how much you appreciate their support. Invite them to the finish line so they can share your success!

Here are some fundraising ideas to get you started:
At your workplace– let everyone know what you’re doing- ask colleagues to support you. Maybe your employer will match you dollar for dollar, you won’t know if you don’t ask!
Ask your colleagues to donate their lunch money for a day.
Have a morning tea.
Add the challenge to your work email signature- include the link to your fundraising page.
Host an event: Make sure supporters know what it’s all about. i.e. the challenge itself -The Surf Coast Trek, why you’re doing it and where their donations will be going.
How about: a sausage sizzle, host a dinner party, sell homemade cakes/ preserves, host a charity cinema screening (check with your local cinemas for conditions), or a trivia night.
Ask five family members or friends for a donation of $20 and you’re almost halfway there.
What about an Easter (or anytime) chocolate fundraiser? (Easter falls on the weekend before the Trek!). Or maybe ask for a donation rather than chocolate at Easter.
Ask people to donate goods or services to hold a silent auction.
